How we work

Onboarding takes about a week. Then it's quiet.

STEP 01

A call, not a pitch

Twenty minutes on what you do, what's filed, what isn't, and what's worrying you. You leave the call knowing your exposure, whether or not you hire us.

STEP 02

Fixed quote

A written scope and a fixed monthly or one-time fee. Government challans and SECP fees are billed at cost, with receipts. No hourly surprises.

STEP 03

Handover and clean-up

We collect your records, reconcile the backlog, fix what previous filings got wrong, and put your books on a single system you can log into.

STEP 04

Monthly rhythm

Books closed and accounts sent by the 10th. Returns filed before the deadline. A short call each month, and one number to call in between.

Starting a business

Pick the right structure before you register.

The wrong structure is expensive to unwind. Here's how we usually advise — but bring us your situation and we'll tell you which fits.

Sole owner

SMC-Private Limited

One shareholder, limited liability, and a company identity clients and banks take seriously.

  • SECP name reservation
  • Incorporation and certificate
  • MOA and AOA drafted
  • NTN registration with FBR
  • Bank account documentation

  • Everything in SMC, plus:
  • Shareholding structure advice
  • Digital signatures for all directors
  • Statutory registers and first board minutes
  • Sales tax registration if required
  • First-year Form A and Form 29 filings

Two or more partners

Partnership / AOP

Faster and cheaper to set up than a company, with a deed that defines who gets what.

  • Partnership deed drafted
  • Registrar of Firms registration
  • AOP NTN with FBR
  • Profit-sharing and exit terms
  • LLP conversion advice if you outgrow it

Questions we get every week

Straight answers.

How long does it take to register a private limited company?

Once your name is approved and all directors have signed and provided CNICs, SECP incorporation usually completes within a few working days. The realistic end-to-end timeline — name reservation, digital signatures, incorporation, NTN and a working bank account — is two to three weeks, and the bank is almost always the slowest step.

Should I register a company or a partnership?

If you're raising investment, signing contracts with large clients, or want your personal assets protected, register a company. If it's two or three people sharing profits in a low-risk business and you want the cheapest, fastest setup, a registered partnership is usually enough.

The cost difference is real but small compared to the cost of converting later. We'll give you a recommendation on the first call.

I'm a freelancer earning in dollars. What do I actually have to file?

You need an NTN and an annual income tax return. To access the concessional treatment available on IT and IT-enabled exports, your receipts generally need to come through banking channels with proper documentation, and registration with PSEB is worth doing. Many freelancers overpay simply because their remittances weren't documented correctly at the bank.

We set this up properly from the start, or fix it retroactively where we can.

Do I need to register for sales tax?

It depends on what you sell and where. Goods fall under federal sales tax with FBR. Services fall under the provincial authority where the service is rendered — PRA in Punjab, SRB in Sindh, KPRA and BRA elsewhere. Businesses operating in more than one province often need more than one registration.

Registering when you don't need to creates monthly filing obligations you can't easily switch off, so it's worth getting advice before you register.

Can you take over from my current accountant mid-year?

Yes, and it's most of our onboarding. We take your existing records in whatever state they're in, reconcile the backlog, identify anything mis-filed, and move you onto a single system. You keep full ownership of your data and logins throughout.

I've received a notice from FBR. Can you help?

Yes — and the sooner the better, because most notices carry a short response window. Send us the notice and your last two years of filings and we'll tell you what it's about, what it's likely to cost, and what response it needs. We handle representation through audits and appeals.

We're a foreign company setting up in Pakistan. Do you handle that?

We do — including a Pakistani subsidiary, a branch office, or a liaison office, each of which carries different approval requirements and tax consequences. Onboarding is fully remote, and we're used to working across time zones and coordinating with counsel in your home jurisdiction.

What does it cost?

Bookkeeping and tax retainers are priced monthly against transaction volume and the number of registrations you're filing under. Company registration and partnership setup are fixed one-time fees. CFO work is a monthly retainer based on the days you need.

Every quote is written and fixed before we start, and government fees are billed at cost with receipts attached.
